Meet Our Principal
La Salle Institute is pleased to announce that following a nationwide search facilitated by Catholic School Management, Dr. Paul D. Fallon was selected as the next Principal of La Salle Institute in Troy, N.Y. Starting on July 1, 2015, Dr. Fallon will be the third lay Principal in the history of the school and first since 2007. He will succeed Brother Carl Malacalza, F.S.C., who will complete 13 years of extraordinarily dedicated service to the school community, the last 8 of which were as Principal.
Dr. Fallon has an extensive educational background with 26 years experience as a teacher, coach, athletic director, middle school dean, principal, regional superintendent, and educational consultant. Among Dr. Fallon’s successful initiatives in his educational leadership roles as Principal of Nouvel Catholic Central High School in Saginaw, Michigan and Regional Director of Schools (Superintendent) of the National Heritage Academies has been his focus on strengthening the curriculum, integrating faith, collaboratively supporting the faculty, and engaging the parents and local community. Prior to these years of his commitment to students and their families, Dr. Fallon served his country with honor attaining the rank of Captain in the United States Marine Corps.
“Dr. Fallon brings a wealth of educational leadership experience and enthusiasm to the academic family of La Salle Institute,” said Mr. Edward W. Kovalefsky, Chair of the Board of Trustees. Consistent with the by-laws of La Salle Institute, Brother Dennis Malloy, FSC, the Provincial / Visitor of the Brothers of the Christian Schools, District of Eastern North American (DENA) enthusiastically conveyed the approval of the appointment of Dr. Paul Fallon, in collaboration with the Board of Trustees.
“There is unlimited potential at La Salle Institute. The combination of parents who enrich their sons’ futures, a faculty and staff that are passionate about inviting students to full potential, the Lasallian charism that defines this distinctive Catholic school, a committed board, and the vast depth of alums who are proud of their affiliation with La Salle Institute all point toward an amazing future,” said Dr. Fallon. “My intent is to inspire leadership at all levels as we collaboratively build, act on, and relentlessly sustain a compelling vision for La Salle Institute,” he added.
The Principal Search Committee, co-chaired by Brother Jack Curran, F.S.C. ’76 and David Hurst ’88, included parents, staff, alumni, Brothers, and members of the Board of Trustees and was assisted by Catholic Schools Management, and received extensive valuable input and insights from faculty, staff, parent, and student focus group forums.
