The Science department at La Salle Institute provides students with a hands-on, inquiry-based curriculum embedded in core subject matter. This integrated approach is designed to foster higher level thinking and analytical skill, while letting students experience laboratory activities and become comfortable exploring scientific research.
In sixth grade, the Science department focuses on general science to allow students to achieve a baseline knowledge. Beginning in the seventh grade, students focus on specific topics moving from Biology to Physics to Chemistry. The goal of the Science department is to prepare students for college-level work in science and engineering, to ultimately prepare them for future STEM-based careers in science, technology and math.
The Science department offers honors and advanced placement classes, as well as the ability to earn college credit while still in high school through the HVCC Dual Credit Partnership program.
